Knowledge of the month
March 2010
Take a minute to think:
To think about this statement: You will only get what you expect.
READ - Psalms 62:5
Introduction:
In order to receive from the Lord, we must expect Him to show up in our lives. Without a sense of expectancy, all we are doing is taking part in a religious exercise that has no power behind it. It is time for Believers to start expecting God to do great and mighty things in our lives. God wants us to release our faith for everything we need and desire. This is the year of Great Expectations. The word great means abundant, too much, full and often times. The word expectation can be defined as “the thing that I long for.” In other words, God wants to bring to pass abundance, too much, fullness, and often times, however, it will not happen until “I” long for it.
Four things you need to do in order for greatness to take place in your life.
1. Be Faithful: Read Proverbs 28:20
The word faithful means to be dependable and trustworthy. Faithfulness is not proven overnight but is demonstrated over time. Faith is a lifestyle in the Kingdom of God and in order for you to abound with God’s blessings this year, it will require faithfulness.
- Why is it important for you to understand this scripture going into the New Year? What changes can you make in order to experience the results of faithfulness in your life?
2. Be Grateful: Read 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Being grateful is the will of God and is vital to you remaining spiritually connected to God. You will not be able to find His ultimate will for your life until you have cultivated a lifestyle of gratefulness. God desires to create a life of success, victory and fulfillment for you. Nevertheless, it will only happen if you maintain an attitude of gratitude.
- Why is it important to be grateful in spite of your circumstances? Think of some things you need to be grateful for in 2010?
3. Be a Giver Not a Taker: Read 2 Corinthians 9:7
God loves a cheerful giver because it demonstrates your heart is in your giving. Giving cheerfully shows you do not give just out of obligation; it is an indication of your love for God. Cultivating a heart that is willing and obedient where giving is concerned, positions you to receive the abundance of blessings God has promised you in His Word.
- What stops people from being cheerful givers? "If you don't have enough it's because you haven't given enough." Why is this a true statement? Discuss
4. Think Big: Read Ephesians 3:20,21
Renewing your mind with God’s Word is vital to the life of a Believer. As a result of reading the Scriptures and meditating on them thoroughly your thinking will be transformed to line up with the mind of Christ. When you have the mind of Christ, you can do anything! A renewed, Word-controlled mind guarantees abundance and prosperity in every area of your life. "People don't fail because they aim too high and miss, but because they aim too low and hit."
• Have you found this to be true in your life? What are you expecting God to do for you this year?
